Kelly McGillis, an actreess who plays teacher to Tom Cruise in "Top Gun," has confirmed long-held rumors that she's a lesbian, according to an interview on the website shewired.

"Definitely a woman," she said when asked if she's looking for a man or a woman

"I'm done with the man thing," continue McGillis, 51, who is twice married and twice divorced and has two teenage daughters with her second husband, Fred Tillman. "I did that, I need to move on in life. It's a part of being true to yourself. That's been a challenge for me."

The Daily Mail says McGillis' sexual orientation was Hollywood's worst-kept secret. (Funny, we thought the worst-kept secret was that Jodie Foster was gay. Or John Travolta. We could go on.) The Popeater.com blog says the announcement crushes "a million middle-aged hearts." The image of Charlie from "Top Gun" batting for the other team? Somehow we doubt that.

The actress also told Girl Rock! that now that her daughters are grown, she's looking to get back into acting, but is having a hard time - because she won't dye her hair!

"Whenever I get an offer, they ask me to dye my hair," the graying star said. "And I just won't."
