Dom DiMaggio Died This Friday Morning

Dom DiMaggio former Red Sox and seven time All star died Friday morning. He was 92 years old.

DiMaggio died at about about 1 a.m. on Friday at his Massachusetts home, said wife, Emily.

"He was the most wonderful, warm, loving man," his wife said. "He adored his children, and we all adored him."

DiMaggio, the youngest of three brothers who all became center fielders, still holds the record for the longest consecutive game hitting streak in Red Sox history. He hit in 34 straight games in 1949. It makes nickname "The Little Professor".

In 1,399 games, Dom DiMaggio batted .298 with 87 homers and 618 runs batted in. He helped the Red Sox to the 1946 World Series, which they lost in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals.
