Kanawha County Schools Were Closed

CHARLESTON, W.Va.(WSAZ) - Kanawha County School is facing flood. High water is causing problems all across our region, including school closings, road closures, and rescue situations. As was reported by Metro 911 that high water and localized flooding throughout Kanawha County School this moring.

At 8:35 a.m, 2.8 inches of rain fell in the last 24 hours, covering roads in nothern and wertern ends of the county.

Here some roads are closed in Kanawha County :

- Legg Fork Road & Sissonville Drive (water rescue)
- 5000 block of Indian Creek Road in Pinch
- 2900 block of Sissonville Drive
- Greenview Road and Childress Road in Alum Creek
- Rutledge Road and Greenbrier Street in Charleston
- 1500 block Strawberry Road in St. Albans
- 2100 Kanawha Terrace in St. Albans
- 300 block of Spencer Road in Clendenin
- 200 block of Coopers Creek Road in Pinch
- Falcon Drive and Sissonville Drive
- 4100 Washington Street West in Dunbar (water rescue)
- Smith Creek Road in Tornado (water rescue)

Kanawha County schools were on a two-hour delay this morning because of high water, although there were also several closures called.

Bonham Elementary in Sissonville was closed. The school has a history of flooding or being threatened by high water.

Gilmer, Lincoln and Roane County schools were also closed.

Cross Lanes Christian, a private school in Kanawha County, was on a two-hour delay.
