The U.S. Open trophy was on display Monday morning. It remained anyone’s guess who would hoist it at day’s end.
With only a slight chance of rain, the final round of the oft-delayed championship resumed with Ricky Barnes and Lucas Glover on the second hole and tied for the lead at 7 under. They both made par before Glover bogeyed Nos. 3 and 5. Barnes, who also dropped a stroke at the par-4 fifth, held a one-stroke lead at 6 under.
Phil Mickelson, who began the day tied with Hunter Mahan, Ross Fisher and David Duval at 2 under, bogeyed No. 6 to slip to 1 under. Mahan improved to 3 under and Fisher was joined by Mike Weir at 2 under. Duval fell off the pace with a triple-bogey at No. 3 and was even through six.
